Grantsville Area Attractions

Casselman Bridge

Grantsville has retained its agricultural roots yet is also a "full-service" town.  It offers all the needed amenities including shopping, dining, recreation, churches of many denominations and several medical practices.   The Grantsville Branch Library is open 6 days a week loaning books, magazines, films & videos.  You'll find a vibrant small town with active family farms surrounding it.  We invite you to explore the area and to meet our people.

Some of the sites you may wish to visit will include:

Historic Sites

  • Interpretive Panels
Interpretive panels describing the area's history are located in front of the Casselman Inn and at the main entrance to the Town Park. Here is a longer version of the sign text.
  • Casselman Inn
The Casselman Inn has been operated as an inn since it opened in 1842.  Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, you may dine here any day except Sunday and the historic hotel is open always for rooms.
  • Cornucopia Farm
This private residence still bears the name of the original land grant established in 1785
  • Fuller-Baker Log House
Now a private residence, this log house was likely a drover's inn or tavern during the nineteenth century
  • Stanton's Mill
Built in 1797 and operated as a grist mill continuously from 1824 until 1990.  There are plans to restore the mill to its earlier appearance.  Penn Alps Restaurant, found at the same location, is a former inn dating from the 1800's. The adjoining Spruce Forest Artisan's Village provides some local history in its relocated pioneer cabins.
  • Tomlinson Inn
Now a private residence, this large stone home was once a busy inn along the National Road.  Its guests included Albert Gallatin and James K. Polk.
